The Madison School Board will review changes to the school district's bus service policy that will require disciplinary action for students who violate the district's policies on appropriate behavior while riding buses.
The board members will hear the first reading of the changed policy during their meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Room 117 at the Madison Middle School.
Among the changes under consideration:
-- For first violations that are considered flagrant, students could be automatically suspended from riding school buses.
-- Second violations will result in disciplinary actions from school officials.
-- Third violations will result in complete suspension from riding buses until parents and school officials work out disciplinary agreements.
-- Fourth violations will result in the complete suspension of riding on school buses for the remaining days of the school year.
Violations of acceptable behavior include disregarding safety procedures; not following directions; and eating, drinking or littering.
In other business, the school board members will consider:
-- Hiring Max Hodgen as head football coach for the 2010-11 school year.
-- Approving an application for a home school exemption.
-- Considering changes to the 2010-11 school calendar.
-- Accepting an early retirement request from Tom Osterberg.
-- Considering revisions to the recording of school board meetings that will place an archive of regular board meetings on the superintendent's Web page.
-- Considering changes to the in-town bus stop list that adds Living Hope Wesleyan Church, St. Thomas School and the corner of S.E. 4th St. and S. Division Ave. as bus stops.
-- Approving and recognizing the Madison Education Association as a party for negotiations.
